The Amalfi Coast

The Amalfi coast is the part of the coast of Campania region, located south of Sorrento peninsula, which overlooks on the Salerno Gulf; from West to East it is enclosed between Positano and Vietri sul Mare.

It is an area which is famous all over the world for its natural beauty and for this reason is foreseen by the main tourist itineraries.

Declared UNESCO World Heritage Sit, it takes its name from the city of Amalfi, core of the Coast not only geographically but historically as well.

The Amalfi Coast is known for its diversity: each of its towns has its own character and its own traditions.

The Amalfi coast is also known for some typical products, such as limoncello, a liqueur made from special lemons in the area ("sfusato amalfitano"), anchovies and local fish produced in Cetara, and - naturally - hand-painted pottery made in Vietri sul Mare.
